Purpose of Role The Investment Associate is a pivotal member of our investment team, contributing to every stage of the investment process, including origination, execution, and post-investment activities. This role requires active engagement with entrepreneurs, meticulous research, and collaborative efforts in shaping investment proposals, particularly in the context of early-stage investments. The successful candidate will demonstrate a sharp business acumen to assess strategic intents effectively. Impactful Investing Ecosystem: Exposure to Business Lifecycle: Gain exposure to the entire business lifecycle,from concept to proof of concept, validation, monetisation, traction, scaling, to growth stage businesses. Permanent Capital Vehicle (PCV): E2 has a closed mandate and is a PCV, investing off our own balance sheet with no specific investment horizons. Trust Structure: E2 operates in a trust structure, distinct from traditional firms, with no Limited Partners or shareholders. Collaboration with AGGP Group Companies: Collaborate with Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies Group companies, fostering partnerships such as Allan Gray ESquared Ventures (AGEV) and supporting AGGPA's pre-seed investment program called Jasiri Growth Accelerator (JGA). Objectives of Role Analyse financial statements and develop comprehensive financial models. Conduct in-depth industry, market, and company research to inform investment decisions. Participate in all stages of the investment cycle from project development to disbursement. Provide valuable support in investment negotiations and due diligence processes. Assess proposals in alignment with the organisation's closed impact investment mandate. Prepare investment documents, briefing papers, reports, and presentations for internal and external audiences. Collaborate on corporate-wide projects to enhance overall organisational goals Experience and Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent in finance and Investment, or a related field. Professional qualifications such as CA(SA), CFA, MBA, or relevant postgraduate degrees. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in investing, including PE, VC, Angel, or Impact investing. Strong financial acumen, analytical skills, and proficiency in financial modeling. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Competencies Demonstrated interest and understanding of the organisation's vision, mission, and values. Passion for contributing to positive socioeconomic development, particularly in South Africa. Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships. Display emotional maturity and professionalism in all interactions. Capability to work independently with limited supervision. Willingness and ability to contribute to various corporate-wide projects.
