Our client, an African investment firm with global standards has been growing investor's assets and providing investment management services for retail and institutional investors since 2005 and is currently seeking an Investment professional to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient and proper implementation of trade instructions received from the portfolio analysts for the underlying portfolio strategies. This involves optimising the successful execution of transactions in their respective markets, whilst minimising price slippage to the investment instruction/ objective. This includes managing the administrative and fiduciary responsibilities from acceptance of instruction. As dealing is part of a larger trade implementation process, the successful candidate will also be responsible for integrating the function into the business and ensure that daily activities are communicated timeously at both ends of the process. The position would be required to work from the Newlands offices. Inherent requirements: Degree in a finance, commerce, or quantitative field. Professional qualifications such as CFA, CA (SA), and FIA is preferable would be advantageous Meet all FAIS requirements - RE5 is complete 5 years' experience in a dealer or related trading function Demonstrated passion and aptitude for markets. (up to date with market-related news/trends) Strong Excel, IRESS Pro, NX Manager and Bloomberg experience Positive attitude, proactive team player and a willingness to perform a wide range of tasks. Strong knowledge of deal implementation processes, across investment, compliance/regulatory and administrative lenses. Key Performance Area's (but not limited to): Trade execution (JSE listed securities): Manage the end-to-end trade execution process for securities listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. This involves defining, communicating, monitoring and managing the market execution strategy for the trade instructions assigned to you. Develop trade analysis models: Develop and maintain appropriate pre-trade analysis tools and screens to assist in the best execution of trade instructions and the allocation of deals to underlying brokers. Trade execution (other securities): Manage the end-to-end trade execution process for other securities assigned to you. This may include additional more specialised responsibilities such as managing the price discovery process, negotiation of terms, and engagement with portfolio administration and compliance teams. Trade administration and compliance: Ensure that all trade activities are correctly recorded including voice and chat engagements with external parties to ensure good compliance and TCF principles are always met pre- and post-trade. Engage with portfolio analysts and portfolio administration to ensure efficient and transparent trade execution across the process. Broker Management: Build strong arms-length relationships with brokers, evaluating their capabilities and execution processes to add value to the investment execution decisions made at the firm. Use this information to contribute to the firm broker allocations, whilst managing daily execution flow based on their value-add and contribution to investment outcomes. Monitor news and events: Monitor news and events that may impact the share price, such as mergers and acquisitions, earnings releases, and regulatory changes. This requires staying up-to-date on current events and understanding how they may affect the companies, industries, and other assets managed at the firm. Communicate findings: Communicate market movements, SENS, and other relevant information to portfolio managers, and other relevant stakeholders through reports, presentations, and other means of communication. Collaborate with team members: Collaborate with other investment analysts and portfolio managers, to share information and contribute to investment strategies. This requires strong communication and teamwork skills. Stay up to date on market developments: Stay up-to-date on regulatory and other market developments and trends through reading industry publications, attending conferences, and networking with industry professionals. Project Support: Support the business in implementing projects related to your business unit. This would include periodic reviews and updates of trade execution processes systems and tools to align with market and global best practices.
