Client based in the Cape Town Harbour is seeking to employ an experienced IR Officer. Assist employees and management with queries and requests. Answer and forward calls within the HR Office. Use discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times Advise management on all matters that involve conflict between employees. Perform general administrative duties for the HR Office which may include filing. Work to improve communication, cooperation and planning in the HR Office. Work with management on the staff evaluation process, receive and file evaluations from department supervisors. Assist in the development of HR, IR and ER labour protocols, operating procedures and handbooks. Maintain and follow HR policies, regulations and procedures related to the function, rights and responsibilities of all staff. Ensure that all staff members are aware of the IR and ER protocols and regulations, and that employees have access to the relevant handbooks when needed. Work with the HR and departmental Managers with respect to disciplinary action required, including preparation of documents, investigation of any offence, scheduling hearings, and attendance at hearings. Where necessary support the HR and departmental managers on any CCMA or Labour court referrals Ensure the wellness program for staff is clearly documented and that staff are aware and regularly updated of the resources available to them Ensure continuous revision, internal training and updates are provided on various IR and ER and recent case law and that this is conducted regularly across all levels of staff and where necessary coordinate external training on relevant matters Work with the representative union and management in managing conflict between parties and employees Negotiate collective bargaining agreements with the representative union and management. Assist in the organization and induction of new staff on the code of conduct, HR and IR protocols and operating procedures during orientation Assist with the process of Exit Interviews Any other duties as may be assigned by the Operational Director or the Human Resources Manager. The following minimum criteria applies : Minimum of 5 years experience in HR/IR • Experience in Industrial Maintenance which includes Scaffolding and Painting will be an advantage • An understanding of and insight into the BCEA, LRA, OHS, EE, SDL and POPI acts. • Knowledge of regulations and compliance as it relates to Human resources and South African law • Previous experience working in the construction sector advantageous Key Performance Indicators : Be informed, research and keep up to date with the South African Labour Law and various acts. Ensure management and union compliance on any collective agreements. Continually analyse and develop operating procedures as it relates to IR, ER and HR Manage grievances and grievance procedures timeously and ensure management are updated. Work to improve communication, cooperation and planning in the Human Resources Office Ensure strike and contingency plans are continually updated in the event of any industrial action Salary on offer will be market related and will also be determined on level of experience.
