IT Administrator - Johannesburg

Function:

The IT Administrator provides support to system users by managing all service providers and is responsible for all system operations.

The Key Functional Responsibilities:

  • Monitor network performance including availability, utilization, through put, stability, latency and escalate issues to our third-party service provider for resolution.
  • Configuration, testing and the installation of software and IT equipment;
  • Set-up of new users on the different applications and provide user training as and when required.
  • Provide and update supporting documentation related to IT operations.
  • Assist with network upgrades by conferring with third-party service providers.
  • Evaluate, test and install enhancements on existing and new applications.
  • Ensure that the daily Operational Reporting, Daily Backup report, Daily System availability reports are received from the respective third-party service providers.
  • Asset Report and User Access reports are updated as and when assets are handed to users and user access is granted, revoked or removed.
  • Follow the JML process to add, move, update or terminate users.
  • Complete the Daily Checklist to ensure that all jobs are completed and that the environment is operational for all users to commence their daily duties.
  • Follow the applicable Change Control procedure for all system and emergency changes.
  • Review the Disaster Recovery (DR) process and procedures quarterly and ensure that all Extreme Contingency (EC) processes are tested and the equipment for the use of the EC is in working order.
  • Be familiar with the Business continuity plan (BCP).
  • Report changes of procedures.
  • Assist with the annual test to ensure business continuity.
  • Meet financial requirements by submitting information (Job cards and Invoices) for budgets and monthly expenses.
  • Monitor third-party service provider support and ensure that issues are resolved within agreed SLA.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Accomplishes organisation goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.
  • Exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Project resource on various IT Projects.
  • Test and perform Proof of Concept initiatives on various software applications and hardware related projects.
  • Arrange repairs and exchange on warranty and non-warranty hardware i.e. Laptops, printers, cell phones, etc.
  • Maintain the user list and ensure that users have the necessary access rights to access the applicable software and applications.
  • Ensure that the asset register for all company IT equipment is maintained and updated as and when a new asset is purchased and disposed.
  • Assess and evaluate all call logs before submitting or escalating calls to the third-party supplier for support.
  • Follow up on open call logs and ensure that issues are resolved, and calls are closed within agreed SLA.
  • Assist in preparing monthly performance reports.
  • Perform afterhours standby support.

Qualification and Skills Required:

  • Matric with Diploma or Degree in a IT related field
  • 2 - 3 years In a Microsoft environment and Networking knowledge
  • 2 - 3 years Microsoft Exchange 2008 and higher
  • 2 - 3 years Server 2008 -2012 knowledge
  • 2 - 3 years Microsoft Active Directory and group policy
  • 2 - 3 years Logistics Warehouse environment experience,
  • 2 - 3 years SQL, Microsoft and Crystal Reporting
  • 2 -3 years Terminal Server
  • MS Intermediate with advanced Excel Skills
  • MS Great Plain Advantageous
