IT Engineer - Edenvale
Our client based in Edenvale is looking for a highly motivated and experienced IT Engineer to join the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Microsoft technologies, as well as experience with cloud computing, database management, and networking. The IT Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Microsoft solutions. The incumbent must have the ability to solve problems and to think critically. Technical communication/suggestions for changes and improvements. Communicate and document issues, generate document requests for corrective action. Document and report on field activities. Incorporate and promote process improvements. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for product lines and end-user hardware. Use the proper resources to fix issues. Tracks open ticket issues and communicate the status to superiors . Participate in the research and review of infrastructure, production hardware specifications and performance requirements. Contribute to the company’s continuous improvement process. Strong technical background working with modern server tools, server technology and server hardware. Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and software. Microsoft Active Directory skills. Networking knowledge including the TCP/IP v4 and v6 protocols, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, SMTP, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, and ICMP. In addition, the ability to crimp network cables and install network wall boxes. Expertise in networking and system administration, security, LAN, and WAN engineering. Experience with VMware (virtual servers) and backup processes. Knowledge of hardware components and hardware troubleshooting procedures. Installing new software on servers. Make recommendations for upgrades to server/desktop hardware or software. Ensure that network security measures are in place. Configuring network settings. Develop and maintain server/office infrastructure documentation. Respond to server outages and incidents. Stay up to date on the latest technologies, industry trends and best practices. Design, Maintain and Support IT infrastructure including User Computers, Servers, Network Infrastructure, Network Security, Internet Security, Email Security, Device Security, Office Automation & Email Infrastructure as well as related hardware, software, and systems. Ensure availability and accessibility of data information required on time and in the future. Maintain infrastructure security and other systems, including health and security monitoring. Maintenance, Patching and Upgrades of ICT equipment. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and contractual arrangements. Ensuring the upkeep and safe keeping of data, security, disaster management plans and SOP as well as the availability of systems and software. Advanced troubleshooting and configuration of ITC equipment.
