IT TECHNICAL SUPPORT ENGINEER - Johannesburg

Roles and ResponsibilitiesThe IT Technical Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and assistance to clients, both remotely and onsite.
This role involves troubleshooting, recommending solutions tailored to client needs, and ensuring the efficient and effective use of technology within client organisations.
Duties:
Logging of calls in the helpdesk system.
Resolution time for issues. Number of calls logged and resolved. Client satisfaction scores. T
aking calls and troubleshooting issues.
Telephonic troubleshooting with clients.
Installation of networks including configuration of firewalls and file-sharing systems.
Number of installations and configurations completed.
Success rate of installations and configurations.
Client feedback on system performance.
PC setups for clients.
Recommending new systems and configurations to meet specific client needs.
Providing recommendations for new ways of working and systems.
Number of advisory sessions conducted.
Client adoption rate of recommended solutions.
Advising clients on the optimal use of products or services, such Microsoft Office 365, Redstar, Exchange, Lync, and SharePoint services.
Providing recommendations for new ways of working and systems.
Providing onsite client support when necessary.

Skills:
Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot network devices such as routers, switches, and wireless access points.
Familiarity with diagnosing issues and replacing defective components.
Ability to install and configure software applications, ensure software updates, and maintain software licensing compliance. Skills in documenting processes, call logs, and service reports accurately for future reference and compliance purposes. Excellent time management.
Strong attention to detail.
High customer orientation.
Ability to work effectively in a team.
Strong communication skills.
Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Experience: 2-3 years of experience in a technical role, working on PCs.
Experience in a team that installs networks, routers, and switches. Requirements: Grade 12 A+ certification. N+ certification would be advantageous.
