Junior Accountant - North Johannesburg

An esteemed digital financial solutions company is actively seeking a Junior Accountant to enhance the organisation's financial well-being. Located in Sunninghill. You'll play a pivotal role in maintaining financial records, facilitating transactions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing essential financial insights to business leaders. Duties and Responsibilities: Financial Transactions: Perform day-to-day financial administration and bookkeeping activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger entries. Prepare month end journals including prepayments, accruals, provisions, bank reconciliations and cashbook processing. Reconcile debtors and creditors including preparation of weekly and monthly reconciliations. Manage payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries, deductions, and benefits. Manage fixed asset register. Financial Reporting: Create and analyse financial reports including cash flow, profit and loss statements, and budgets and report on any irregularities. Budget Monitoring: Monitor budgeting and forecasting for the business including project costings. Conduct regular financial reconciliations and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data. Provide assistance and input to business leaders to contribute to project and product budgeting and cost optimisation. Regulatory Compliance: Perform and manage statutory requirements including Tax, VAT and PAYE ensuring compliance and timely submissions. Update on changes in tax regulations. Coordinate CIPC submissions, ensuring compliance with company registration and reporting requirements. Audit Support: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with changes in financial regulations and ensure compliance with CIMA or SAIPA standards. Create efficiencies in processes and systems. Business Administration: Involvement in any ad hoc strategic or operational tasks required to assist business leaders and directors. Contribute to overall effectiveness of the administration of the business. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree with Accounting as a major and good academic results. Postgraduate diploma / honours in accounting (PGDA) or similar preferable. Entry level role 0-2 years’ experience. Understanding of technology systems and exposure to accounting software such as Xero or QuickBooks is advantageous. Good entry-level accounting capability. Competent in using Excel. Excellent numerical skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an agile, fast-paced, team-centric environment. Well-developed analysis, problem-solving, critical thinking, organising, planning, and the commitment to producing accurate accounts.
