Junior Business Analyst Sunninghill - Johannesburg

Designated within the Universal Group Project Office, the business analyst serves to provide outcomes in the following areas: Analysis and design User and Project Support Operational Excellence Duties and Responsibilities Analysis & Design Gather, identify, research, and understand "what business wants, document in detail the requirement, demonstrating ability to apply his/ herself in the design of a solution in collaboration with business and IT. Requirement eliciting Demonstrate an evidenced based approach in requirements eliciting through performing interviews, user observation, workshops, questionnaires, brainstorming, prototyping and hosting joint application development (JAD) sessions. Develop "Customer/user journey mapping" as part of requirement eliciting. A visual and narrative to illustrate the relationship a user/customer has with a business process, application, system platform which helps identify customer needs and experience with a product or service. Requirement Analysis Understand the company's mandate, objectives, and goals in relation to a specific business need or problem that is being addressed. Identify problem statement and root cause. Identify customer needs. Evaluate system for feasibility, existing functionality, and possible new development requirement. Determine and evaluate risks, impacts and limitations of the requirement as it relates to business processes and systems. Perform “as-is versus to-be" analysis to provide a view of the requirements. Demonstrate where applicable data analysis performed as part of the requirements elicited. Requirement Design Specify and model requirements. Detailed description of the requirement. Verify and validate requirements. Business stakeholders/ Requirement requesters must agree that the requirement detailed is as per their expectation. Illustrate requirements diagrammatically using: Use cases, process flow/ activity diagrams, user interface (UI) modelling and provide narratives thereof. Where data analysis is performed, show this diagrammatically by producing data flow diagrams and providing a narrative thereof. Guided by the agile framework and underpinning SOPs ensure that the requirement life cycle is adhered to. Make use of user stories in defining the requirements for IT: Clearly define who is the user, what do they want and why do they want it. The defined acceptance criteria must be documented such that business and IT understand, project team can estimate effort / time and help the testers review the feature and see if it works as the user requested. Provide detailed supporting analysis artefacts that explain the requirement, illustrating the as-is vs to-be. Achieve business requester and product owner approval. Backlog grooming of requirement Requirement Solutioning Participate in business process and system design sessions held with business and IT to solve for the requirement. Facilitate solution design meetings, workshops, and JAD session to direct the delivery team of possible solutions. Recommend and assess proposed solutions to determine how closely they meet the requirement. Its risks, impacts and limitations must be noted. Ensure that operational capability, features, and functionality is factored into the system solution. Develop a technical understanding of the system solution put in place for the requirement i.e., System platform used, databases structured etc User and Project Support Requirements User and Project Support Review test cases and results to validate and verify the requirement is delivered as specified. Provide clarification or additional supporting information to the project team in requirement clarification and defect resolution. Provide input to and review of operational processes impacted by the requirement. Participate where applicable in testing to help software quality assurance in the testing delivery effort. Provide timely feedback on queries and incidents on post implementation activities. Operational Excellence Implement opportunities for repeatable process and reuse thereof to reduce labour costs, time and re-work. Contribute to a positive team culture and align with the business strategy, promote innovation and growth, build structures and processes that sustain performance over time. Identify opportunities for cost savings.
