Junior Construction Manager (Solar Industry) - Cape Town City Centre

You will work closely with senior construction managers, engineers, contractors, and various stakeholders to ensure projects are executed efficiently, safely, and within budget. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, project management principles, and renewable energy technologies.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 1-2 years working experience within a solar and/or electrical industry
  • Tertiary education in a relevant field would be highly beneficial
  • Experience working on simultaneous projects/sites at a time
  • Travelling to various sites (rotation of sites)
  • Excellent communication skills on all levels
  • Computer literate (emails and excel)
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, techniques, and materials
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication, administration and follow-ups skills is needed
Duties will include but is not limited to:
  • Delivering PV installation project from an execution state of the project to completion.
  • From site establishment to commissioning.
  • Making sure the projects are done in time
  • Project Planning: Assist in developing project plans, schedules, and budgets in coordination with senior management.
  • Site Management: Oversee on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications.
  • Contractor Coordination: Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment, resolve issues, and manage subcontractor performance.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or obstacles, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections and quality checks to ensure workmanship meets project requirements and industry standards.
  • Budget Management: Assist in tracking project expenses, monitoring costs, and identifying opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily, weekly and monthly reports, change orders, and correspondence with stakeholders.
  • Communication: Communicate regularly with internal teams, clients, and regulatory authorities to provide project updates, address concerns, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Risk Management: Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize potential impacts on project timelines and budget.
  • Environmental Compliance: Ensure construction activities comply with environmental regulations and minimize ecological impacts.
  • Training and Development: Continuously enhance knowledge of construction techniques, solar technologies, and project management practices through training and professional development opportunities.
