Our client, a South African company with an international reach and client base, is looking for a bright Engineer (Mechanical/Industrial) with some experience in Cost Engineering. This is an exciting role that will put you at the forefront of Multi-Million Rand Projects for South Africa and beyond.Your Role will consist of: Developing Cost Estimates: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for projects or products, considering factors such as materials, labor, overhead, and other relevant expenses. Vendor and Supplier Management: Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing, negotiate contracts, and establish favourable terms. Evaluate supplier performance and conduct supplier cost analysis to optimize procurement processes. Cost Control Measures: Implement cost control measures to manage project budgets and control expenditures. Monitor project costs throughout the project lifecycle and take corrective actions as needed to prevent cost overruns. Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and finance to ensure alignment of cost objectives with overall business goals. Provide cost-related guidance and support to project teams as needed. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of cost data, estimates, and analysis. Prepare cost reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate cost-related information to stakeholders and management. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements related to cost estimation and management. Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization. Compliance and Ethics: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and ethical guidelines related to cost estimation, procurement, and financial management. Uphold ethical standards in all cost-related activities and decisions. You’ll have the opportunity to: Develop an understanding of the company's existing costing methods, models, tools, and software to prepare accurate cost estimates. Deepen your knowledge of the company's product range and the fabrication processes required for their manufacture. Prepare RFQs to subcontractors and suppliers, expediting quotations and ensuring that cost estimates are delivered on time. Attend site inspections and contribute to the achievement of the company's sales objectives. To be successful in this role, you'll need: A qualification in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering ± 2 years' experience in Project Costing or Cost Estimation (multi-disciplined Projects, including Fabrication) Experienced in working with and analysing Fabrication and Technical Drawings.
