Junior Deli Assistant – Gourmet Deli – Cape Town Job Sub Title: Junior Culinary Sales Associate We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Junior Deli Assistant to join our client's team at a renowned French cheese deli located in the heart of Cape Town CBD. This exciting role is perfect for a young individual with a love for gourmet foods, a flair for retail sales, and a keen interest in French cuisine. Work Conditions: Job Type: 3 months contract for a Half-day Position - part-time job with a duration of four hours each day, scheduled for five days a week. Flexible working hours, initially starting as a half-day on a 3 months contract position with the potential for full-time employment. Hourly Rate: R50 hourly Monthly Salary: R4000 - R4500 (depending on shifts worked) Qualifications and Skills: Culinary experience and a genuine passion for gourmet food. Basic knowledge of French cuisine, wines, and cheeses. Previous experience in retail sales and familiarity with point-of-sale systems. Some understanding of basic mathematics and accountancy. Fluent in English; proficiency in French or German is advantageous. Experience: Minimum Matric qualification; some tertiary education preferred. Previous exposure to France or central European countries is a plus. Ideal for candidates who have a strong desire for personal and professional development. Key Responsibilities: Curate diverse French gourmet products, with a focus on cheese, to meet client needs. Engage with a varied customer base, providing guidance and product knowledge. Manage retail sales transactions and operate the point-of-sale system. Contribute to the preparation and presentation of gourmet delights. Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in the workspace. Provide excellent customer service. Handle food preparation, storage, and inventory management. Ensure product freshness and quality. Perform additional duties as assigned. Additional Work Conditions: Located in Cape Town CBD; candidates must reside in the CBD or have their own transportation. The role may be suitable for a young individual seeking part-time work.
