Junior Development Economist - Cape Town Region
Urban-Econ Development Economists (Pty) Ltd requires the services of a young and vibrant Junior Development Economist who has an interest in Economics, Developmental Studies and Research. Key Responsibilities: Contribute to research activities Undertake assessments & reviews of development initiatives Draft applied economic and social research studies Liaise and consult with external and internal stakeholders (in-person and remotely) Project co-ordination; Undertake additional tasks as requested of them by their seniors and Unit Manager. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Creativity in problem solving Curiosity & continuously learning Willingness to undertake field research in rural and informal settlement settings Logical & systematic approach to planning and undertaking work Interest in social & economic research. Strong written and spoken communicative competency (reports, presentations, workshops, etc) Minimum Requirements (Non-Negotiable): A minimum of a Post Graduate Diploma or Honours degree in Economics, BCom (Politics, Philosophy and Economics) or closely related field Demonstrable competence in either PowerBI, QDA, QGIS, R, Python or similar software (this will be assessed) Valid Driver’s License (reasonable accommodations will be made for persons living with disability) Working proficiency in at least two languages Cover letter with salary expectations (maximum 1 page) Please note: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted
