Junior Exploration Geologist - South Africa

The Junior Exploration Geologist is responsible for the creation and maintenance a functional and valid geological database. Key Duties / Tasks : Evaluating , installing and modifying hardware and software; Creating, updating and maintaining GIS data for multiple exploration projects; Creating / updating GIS data from archive paper maps and data; Creating and updating maps; Updating geochemistry / drilling databases with new data; Collecting organising, and processing hard copy and digital land, geographical, geophysical, and engineering data; Establishing and maintaining a library of geological, geophysical and geochemical data. Qualifications : Tertiary qualifications in Geology o SQL language qualification Current ”C” Class WA Manual Drivers Licence Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable) Satisfactory NPC clearance Skills and Experience Work knowledge: Proficient Database and GIS software Geological data management such as mapping management experience High level knowledge of exploration techniques and resource modelling data requirements Skilled in mining and geostatistical software, preferably Datamine, Vulcan, Surpac, Isatis Communication skills: Ability to engage team and others to solve problems, develop solutions and get things done. Ability to earn respect through fair treatment of people, clear task assignment, coaching, feedback and performance management. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships required to achieve role purpose. Able to read and write English at an Australian Upper Secondary School standard.
