We're looking for a Junior Power Systems Engineer eager to contribute to renewable energy solutions in the South African energy market. This role involves working on various technical and commercial projects in power system planning, operation, innovation, and technology. Our Junior Engineer is proficient in the use of various advanced design software such as HomerPro and AutoCAD and specialises in the design of substations and powers systems for, but not limited to, Renewable Energy Projects. You also have an idea of how to conduct financial feasibility studies for projects and have an understanding of the tender management process. NB: Salary is dependent on experience and technical proficiency. RESPONSIBILITIES Develop initial concept designs for network connections for various renewable projects, including wind, solar, storage, renewable natural gas, and hydro-electric projects Conduct power system studies, and regulatory compliance studies for both generation and demand connections Engage in other potential work streams such as strategic and regulatory advice, network development, feasibility studies, due diligence, and HVDC based on your skills and interests Prepare detailed technical reports, correspondence, documentation, and calculations for resolving routine technical issues Support ongoing innovation projects based on your skills and interests Perform basic engineering studies and maintain accurate records and files Work in a professional consulting environment under the guidance of senior personnel SKILLS Proficient in use of advanced software (HomerPro, Helioscope, AUTOCAD, C and C++, Powerfactory) Battery systems design Circuit design and prototyping Enthusiastic and excited to grow in the grid industry EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelors degree in electrical engineering Postgraduate degree in electrical engineering or related field Engineering in Training Certification EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Experience with network modelling and power systems analysis Project management experience Knowledge and experience with the interconnection processes in SA R350k - R700k CTC per annum Apply Now
