Required Skills and Experience • Essential Matric qualification • Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field - SAMTRAC • Registered with SACPCMP – NON-NEGOTIABLE • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and standards • Strong attention to detail and observation skills • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work effectively in a team environment • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities • Prior experience in a similar role or industry is an advantage Capacity to work well under pressure • Valid driver's license • Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred Own transport & valid driver's licence Fluent in English (speak & write) and at least understand Afrikaans. Job Summary: As a Junior Safety Officer, you will assist in ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and promoting a safe work environment. You will work under the supervision of Senior Safety Personnel to implement safety policies, conduct inspections, and provide safety training to employees. Primary Duties: • Assist in conducting regular safety inspections of the workplace to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations. • Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions. • Assist in developing and implementing safety procedures, policies, and guidelines in accordance with regulatory requirements. • Assist in conducting safety training sessions for employees on topics such as hazard identification, emergency procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage. • Monitor and ensure the proper use and maintenance of safety equipment and facilities. • Collaborate with other departments to address safety concerns and implement corrective measures. • Assist in maintaining safety records and documentation, including incident reports, inspection logs, and training records. • Stay updated on relevant safety regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement. • Participate in safety meetings and committees to contribute ideas and recommendations for enhancing workplace safety. • Perform any other duties as assigned by Senior Safety Personnel or Management.
