Our client in the automotive industry has a vacancy for a Welding Technician (Improvement Technician) to assist the CI department by improving the plant productivity, quality, cost, and safety by leading / assisting with the implementation of kaizen improvement ideas & projects. This is a 6 month contract. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Implementation of employee improvement suggestions requests Designing of technical solution adequate to a specific application. Execution/implementation of projects Pre- and post-processing of projects Coming up with suggestions for improving the process and working methods Work performed in accordance with health and safety regulations at the workplace. Decision making – deciding how to implement Kaizen ideas. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Supporting CI department in Lean Training Events Conduct random 5S Audits. Follow work instructions, procedures, drawings, and other technical documents. Providing material for implementation Attention to safety (safety goggles, clothing) Assist with problem solving issues. Good housekeeping to working area. Good and safe handling of equipment to prevent damage facility assets. Generate / implement continuous improvement ideas. Implement cost savings initiatives where applicable. Personal Qualities: Ability to work in a team. Ability to learn new things. Creative Reliable, accurate, disciplined. Ability to concentrate. Rationalization proposals implemented and bringing measurable savings. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience: Grade 12 qualification preferred & welding trade certification, with four to six years of welding experience in manufacturing environment. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems, involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervisory responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
