JOB DESCRIPTION Textile Lab Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the excellence of our textile products. You will be responsible for conducting various tests, analysing results, and collaborating with a team of experts to enhance our product lines. This role reports to the TFG Laboratory Manager TFG Quality Assurance - GMP Key responsibilities: Textile testing, interpretation of test methods and the execution thereof. Sample Preparation: Prepare textile samples for various tests, ensuring accurate labelling and documentation Data recording: Accurately record test results and observations in laboratory notebooks and Horizon Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain laboratory equipment according to standard operating procedures Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment. Testing Procedures: Conduct physical and chemical tests on textiles in line with ISO testing procedures, including but not limited to tensile strength, colourfastness, abrasion resistance, and shrinkage within agreed SLA for all 3 categories (internal, external and commercial testing) Team Collaboration: Work closely with the laboratory team and other departments to support research projects and product development initiatives Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and summaries of test results for review by senior laboratory staff and management Qualifications and Experience: A matric qualification Background of fabric knowledge Safety is paramount in your approach to working within a laboratory setting Skills: Ability to interpret test methods Numerical Skills Spreadsheet Expertise Legislative Framework Alignment Analytical abilities Organizational and record-keeping skills Behaviours: Effectively works with others to achieve shared goals Recognises, respects, and appreciates the diverse values, beliefs, and perspectives of others Effectively adjusts their behaviour, approach, and decision-making based on the situation Develops plans and prioritises initiatives that align to the organisational goals and objectives Assesses and improves the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of various work processes Interprets and simplifies complex and contradictory information when resolving organisational problems Takes accountability and ensures others are held to account on agreed upon performance targets Sets ambitious goals and takes focused action to achieve desired outcomes to deliver measurable results Preference will be given, but not limited to, candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act.
