- A relevant Masters Degree (including Linguistics; ECI and AAC) and registered for a Doctoral Degree
- Professional registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa in the category of Speech Therapist
- At least 1 years experience in higher education or Qualification/courses in higher education teaching and learning
- Undergraduate teaching experience in Speech and Language Pathology
- Research publications or successful supervision or successful research grant funding .

Duties:
- Participate in research; curriculum design, development, and implementation
- Teach undergraduate (and postgraduate) modules
- Meet research publication requirements for academic rank of lecturer level
- Supervise students (Honours/Masters research)
- Secure research grants
- Participate in networking and collaborations in research and/or teaching
- Participate in mentorship programmes
- Participate in community engagement integrated with teaching or research
- Participate in administrative duties in the department
