CORE PURPOSE OF JOB |
To facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and skills by undergraduate pharmacy students for them to function effectively within the field of Pharmacy. To conduct and lead research, facilitate the acquisition of research knowledge and skills amongst undergraduate and postgraduate students. To contribute to community engagement and to be involved in the core functions of the University. |
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS |
- Facilitate learning and teaching in Pharmacy (preferably pharmacology and clinical pharmacy
- Development of curricula and learning material in Pharmacy (preferably pharmacology and clinical pharmacy)
- To conduct, publish and promote and supervise research in Pharmacy relevant to pharmacology and clinical pharmacy
- To be involved in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes
- To be involved in community engagement programmes
- To perform other administrative duties as designated by the Head of the Discipline/Department.

CORE COMPETENCIES |
- An in-depth knowledge of the theory and application of pharmacology and clinical pharmacy.
- Ability to contribute to the creation of knowledge through the successful teaching and supervision of under- and postgraduate students
- Conduct pharmacology and clinical pharmacy research and have publication/s in relevant accredited peer-reviewed journals
- Application for and administration of research grants.
- Potential to contribute to pharmacy profession/stakeholder liaison and networking.
- Good computer skills.
- Knowledge and implementation of, or an ability for, facilitation using blended learning methods.

REQUIREMENTS |
- Masters degree in Pharmacy (preferably Pharmacology or Clinical Pharmacy)
- One to two years relevant lecturing and/or related working experience in a clinical environment (clinic or hospital)
- Professional registration as a Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council is mandatory

Added advantages - Has the potential to contribute to the creation of knowledge by virtue of publications and the successful initiation and supervision of research projects, including Masters studies.
