Logistics Consultant - Stellenbosch

As a Logistics Consultant, you will be responsible for identifying and contacting prospective customers and suppliers. You will negotiate sales deals and rates with customers and suppliers while ensuring that budget and margin targets are met. You will proactively communicate with suppliers to transport goods effectively and efficiently to customers.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION:

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in a similar role within the transport industry.
  • Preferably holds a relevant qualification (degree or diploma).
  • Responsibilities include identifying and contacting prospective customers and suppliers.
  • Negotiating sales deals and rates with customers and suppliers.
  • Meeting budget and margin targets.
  • Proactively communicating with suppliers to transport goods effectively and efficiently to customers.
  • In-depth knowledge of the road transport industry required.
  • Existing customer book would be beneficial.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Organized with good transaction tracking skills.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy.
  • Willingness to solve operational problems after hours.
  • Must be willing to travel.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients, including regular visits.
  • Negotiate new contracts.
  • Negotiate transport rates with clients and transporters.
  • Manage volumes allocated to Teraka.
  • Understand the running cost of a vehicle to determine CPK’s.
  • Analyze commodity trends and adapt to market fluctuations.
  • Keep track of daily and monthly budgets.
  • Add new clients and transporters to the existing book.
  • Maintain established admin procedures.
  • Develop relationships with current transporters, clients, and truck drivers.
  • Follow up with transporters to determine accurate ETA’s of trucks.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to keep them informed about the status of the cargo.
  • Build good relationships with loading and off-loading points.
  • Identify key role players at loading and off-loading points.
  • Plan and forecast truck movements on a weekly basis.
  • Build client relations and support drivers at loading and off-loading points.
