Logistics Controller - Stellenbosch

The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee all aspects of contract execution related to the shipment of commodities for our client and its end users. This includes managing all logistics-related issues and operations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assume full responsibility for efficiently fulfilling all tasks required by the Protein section of the Logistics Department staff.
  • Prepare pre-planning related to vessel shipments and contracts on vessels to be shipped into RSA.
  • Maintain forward planning across the local Toll Crush book.
  • Ensure contract allocations are balanced on the system to process intercompany invoices.
  • Inform customers of vessel arrival dates and contractual obligations.
  • Liaise with silos/terminals related to vessels arriving with our client's cargo.
  • Plan landside logistics prior to vessel arrival.
  • Manage Crush planning sheets and stock management at local Toll Crush facilities.
  • Contract with transport service providers to move commodity to end users.
  • Manage information flow and storage updates sent daily to end users/clients.
  • Pre-plan prior vessel arrival trading and operations.
  • Conduct vessel/local/contract inventory analysis and reconciliation.
  • Manage storage costs for both terminals payable and end user receivable.
  • Ensure recoveries for transport, storage, and miscellaneous charges are charged out to clients per contractual terms.
  • Resolve and reconcile client issues and accounts.
  • Manage all administrative functions inputted into the company system.
  • Reconcile third-party service providers' recording systems to suit company system requirements.
  • Capture costs in the system for all payable and receivable items.
  • Maintain active and completed contracts in the system.
  • Oversee daily system invoicing and month-end inventory functions.
  • Oversee daily front-line logistics operations for clients.
  • Follow up daily on receiver weights with clients.
  • Request month-end inventory balances from all third-party service providers.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years’ experience ideally in logistics/warehousing/Protein Industry.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification preferred.
  • Computer literacy essential, proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in C&F environment, SARS, and NDA importing/exporting requirements.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Incoterms.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Internal relationships with commercial, finance, and IT teams.
  • Willingness to work unconventional hours, including nights and weekends.
