Ensure that plant & machinery used in & on Construction site area is suitable for purposes which it is used. 2 Conduct inspections of installed machinery and ensure that it is being operated, maintained in a manner that will prevent exposure of persons to hazardous conditions. 3 Ensure (where practicable) that all machinery moving parts are adequately safeguarded. 4 Ensure machines are operated only by persons who are fully aware of the dangers attached thereto, conversant with the precautionary measures against the dangers and are authorised to operate such machines. 5 Effective precautionary measures are established, maintained and implemented to protect persons whilst performing maintenance, cleaning or adjustment work. 6 Ensure that any prescribed statutory inspections and / or tests are conducted by a competent person and that records are kept and maintained 7 Ensure that any machine which threatens the safety of any person be stopped immediately. Assist to implement capital and expense projects. Carry out projects to improve the performance and capability of plant & equipment. Complete all projects within time, budget, and spec. Develop complete drawings and specifications, within discipline, for capital and expense projects. Safety, Health & Environment: Assist the Plant to implement the programs and systems to achieve and sustain high standards of Safety, Health, and Environment. Carry out safety, health and environment risk assessment and eliminate risks identified. Assist the Plant to implement actions to compliance with all statutory rules and regulations. Achieve and sustain good housekeeping standards and safety of equipment, machines and staff all the time. Ensure that staff are aware of safety requirements relevant to plant & equipment, materials, chemicals etc. Do safety and house-keeping inspections to identify hazards and take corrective action. Identify machine hazards and ensure engineering correction. Conduct regular house-keeping inspection. Ensure that safety systems on all equipment are in place and working effectively. Ensure proper operation of all machine safety systems. Ensure that all employees use the right personal protective equipment and clothing always. Manage construction schedule and co-ordination with contractors on pressure Manage contractor installing SGS large equipment & piping (drawings, welding, NDT, QC, sloping and distance). The competency requirement for this appointment is having served an apprenticeship in an engineering trade which included the operation and maintenance of machinery, or has had at least five years' practical experience in the operation and maintenance of machinery, and who during or subsequent to such apprenticeship or period of practical experience, as the case may be, has had not less than one year's experience in the operation and maintenance appropriate to the class of machinery he is required to supervise. Qualifications are thus not the only requirement and 5 years general practical experience and 3 years on the class of machinery will suffice.
