Our client in the Agricultural Industry in Oudshoorn, has an opporunity for a Production Manager to join their team. The Production Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the entire crop production process, from planning and planting to harvesting and distribution. The Production Manager collaborates closely with various departments, such as research and development, quality control, and Factory, to achieve production targets and maintain product quality standards. 1. New market- and crop variety development Identify new areas to develop for existing and new crops. Conduct trials in new areas and determine seed crop viability in these areas as well as type of Grower needed for these crop types Do relevant research and communicate findings. 2. Planning and Coordination Receive new contracts from CEO and develop and implement comprehensive production plans, considering factors such as crop selection, planting schedules, resource allocation, and equipment availability and communicate to Production Advisors. Determine, plan, coordinate and monitor production schedules and harvesting plans in order to reach production targets, ensuring minimal damage and contamination. Plan and manage sowing schedules of all crops and communicate to Production Advisors. Plan, communicate and manage logistical requirements with regards to seasonal production schedules, 3. Quality Control and Compliance Supervise post-harvest processing, including cleaning, drying, and conditioning, to maintain crop viability and vigour. Implement strict quality control measures Ensure regular quality checks are conducted throughout the production cycle and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality. 4. Data Management and Analysis Maintain accurate records of planting dates, cultivation practices, pest management efforts, and other relevant data. Use data to analyze production trends, identify areas for improvement, and make informed decisions. Identify opportunities and development and implement action plans for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency enhancement in seed production processes. Use data analysis to implement best practices and innovative techniques to enhance overall productivity and product quality. 5. Team Leadership and Training Provide training, guidance, and feedback to Production Advisors to ensure an informed and motivated team. Stay updated on relevant agricultural regulations, certifications, and compliance requirements and ensure Production Advisors are kept up to date. Ensure all Production Advisors adhere to industry standards and legal guidelines 6. Financial and Budget Management Monitor and manage budgets and expenses to optimize profitability and minimize losses. Follow up and solve grower payment related enquiries. Communicate relevant production targets, progress and relevant concerns to Production Advisors. 7. Client Management Conduct site visits to Growers together with Production Advisors in order to develop and maintain a good working relationship.
