The Opportunity The Africa Marketing Manager – Natural Therapeutics CBD will lead the development of Canopy Growth’s brand portfolio across the Africa region with a key focus initially on South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria and Zambia. To be successful in this role you will collaborate with various cross-functional teams (local and International) to conduct market and competitive analysis, design communication and holistic marketing campaigns within regulatory frameworks, assist in the development and execution of go-to-market strategy for a portfolio of CBD brands. Ultimately you will help bring our brands to life in market and build consumer awareness, engagement, trust, love and consumption in an efficient and sustainable way. Responsibilities Brand Management and Growth Leadership: - Develop category and consumer insights for growth. Develop brand positioning and strategies - Develop and implement marketing plans aligned to investment recommendations. Responsibility as the senior point of contact for leadership, cross functional teams, working with cross border management, Creative, POS and Media Agencies. Business Management and Competitive monitoring - Analyze and monitor the performance of the category and competitors with monthly implications recommendations. Support (Not responsible) volume forecasting based on category growth (AC Nielsen and Shopper Data) in collaboration with demand planning and sales strategy P&L and Budget Management Establish the initial budgets and brand P&L in collaboration with Director Natural Therapeutics, Finance and the Global Marketing head - Ensure projects stay on budget and on time Oversee the marketing spend and allocation of resources driving improved brand health and profitable brand growth (P12) Penetration. People Development: - Manage, Inspire and Oversee the development of your team (direct and indirect). As the leader of the Marketing Leadership Team, develop and implement strategies and projects to build marketing competencies within the overall marketing organization, local and support global. Work effectively with sales, project management, finance, Supply Chain, R&D, and other cross functional team members to lead efforts for growth Cross Functional Influence. Cross Functional Leaderships - Work with and lead business team partners (including Sales, Operations, R&D and quality) to ensure commercialization and consumer go to market brand strategies come to life Actively participate in marketing leadership team to insure talent and skill development Recommended qualifications and Competencies Strong can-do attitude, always looking to optimize the status quo and a humble approach that inspires the best in all that work with them. Minimum of 10 years of consumer-packaged goods experience in brand management within a regulated industry being tobacco, Medical, Beverage, Alcohol or Energy Drinks (3 years at senior level). Bachelor’s degree or Diploma with related experience. Proven track record of developing successful brand growth strategies leveraging various elements of marketing mix with clarity on the role each element delivers to the brand growth. Strong understanding of business P&L management and ability to connect drivers specifically budget optimization and management. Strong analytic skills with experience in both quantitative and qualitative tools. (AC Nielsen, Shopper) Extensive experience leading cross functional project teams through brand building initiatives. Proven track record in building regionally relevant brand and business campaigns with a key understanding of CPT, JHB, PTA and DBN market variances (Consumer, Media, Culture, Trends) Strong communication skills and professional maturity managing vertically & horizontally within an organization with a key focus on working with and influencing Global Brand Teams. Proven ability to influence decisions at all levels and cultivate business relationships Start up, entrepreneurial mindset with a “can do” attitude Intellectual curiosity, ability to learn quickly, with strong sense of autonomy and ability to make decisions. Strong sense of self awareness and impact of others with exceptional influencing skills delivered through business writing, presentation development, systems development and enhancement. Ability to work under pressure with no blueprint to reference in order to deliver new tasks that ultimately create sustainable new brands within a new category.
