Marketing Manager - Retail - Cape Town City Centre

Develop a Marketing strategy and marketing plans, oversee the implementation and execution of the various efforts associated with the marketing plan, including evaluating the results, spearheading market research efforts, and coordinating initiatives across a variety of channels, in order to support long term growth for the business and promote the client and its extensive range of products.

Responsible for developing the Marketing Strategy and ensure implementation

  • Set Quarterly and Annual KPIs for Marketing team: Sales, Conversion, Customer Growth (Existing / New), statistics pertaining to Comms, PR, Advertising, Paid Marketing and Social Media.
  • Build marketing campaigns to support specific marketing objectives across different channels and segments in support of overall strategic marketing plan- creating monthly plans to meet annual budgets.
  • Market through various channels, and segment databases working with large data sets.
  • Drive increase in customer database, showing growth on existing and new customers across all channels.
  • Develop and implement CRM strategies to drive customer acquisition, retention, and customer lifetime value.

Develop business cases for marketing campaigns at the proposal stage and make recommendations on marketing tactics

  • Evaluate the impact of marketing programs in achieving their stated objectives, including impact on lead flow, LTV and retention.
  • Propose and manage marketing research projects to generate consumer insights in support of improved marketing strategy and communications.
  • Partner with creative team, channel sales teams, and external agencies and vendors.
  • Lead the execution of marketing programs from start to finish, driving collaboration with the stakeholders and leveraging the right internal processes.
  • Monitor and analyse conversion rate and propose improvements and optimization on investment in ad-spend.

Drive brand awareness and revenue across all marketing channels (PR, Email Paid media and Social media)

  • Identify and evaluate new digital technologies and use web analytics tools to measure site traffic to better optimize marketing campaigns, email marketing, social media and display and search advertising
  • Develop specific campaigns to create and maintain high levels of customer engagement
  • Responsible for all project management, managing multiple teams and department heads to ensure customer needs are met in a consistent, and exceptional way
  • Oversee all PR, Media and Communications plans, as driven by PR & Communications Manager

Measure, analyse and report on performance of marketing campaigns, KPIs and ROI

  • Provide analytical and valuable insights to optimize tactics and drive continuous improvements
  • Produce timeous, accurate and concise monthly reporting covering all key Marketing metrics
  • Effective weekly reporting on marketing KPIs in weekly sales meetings
  • Manage the customer database and ensure data integrity of analytics
  • Build and present reports on quarterly results and insights to the ExCo Team.

Manage the marketing budget effectively allocating resources to maximize ROI

  • Manage all budget reconciliations to achieve overall plan.
  • Manage and track digital marketing budget and adjust plans as necessary to stay within budget
  • Deliver PIR's to measure ROI and assess efficacy of campaigns.

Mentor and coach’ staff to identify training needs and improve overall skill levels

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of marketing professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity and excellence.
  • Ensure that personal development plans are in place
  • Ensure adequate and appropriate departmental infrastructure in place to ensure optimal operational efficiency
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure the successful execution of marketing initiatives

Minimum requirements

5+ years

  • Experience in building complex marketing programmes and reporting on the results
  • Exposure to direct response marketing
  • Digital Marketing
  • Using a CRM platform

Project Management

3 years

Managing teams

Ability to drive strategy and influence ExCo decision making

Education

Tertiary

  1. BComm degree in Marketing, Sound technological understanding and progressive marketing thinking

Skills

Interpersonal and Team Management

Drive measurable team success and effectively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders across business

Computer literacy

Proficiency with office productivity and analytics systems

Excel formulas, pivot tables, data extraction and formatting

Problem solving

Investigate unusual variances and advise as to actions.

Metrics-driven thinking

SEO /SEM and CRM

In depth understanding and hands on experience

Project management

Develop complex projects and report on results

Creative writing

An eye for great emails and landing pages

Analytical skills

Advanced knowledge of Google Analytics

Verbal and written communication skills

Concisely communicate with varying levels of employees and management.

Additional;

  1. Valid RSA driver’s license;
  2. Willing to travel;
  3. Possess a valid passport at all times;
  4. No flying or travel restrictions (health or legal).
  5. High energy levels and focus
  6. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  7. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  8. Ability to maintain regular, consistent and punctual attendance.
  9. Weekend work, where needed to oversee digital activities.
