Reference: PE000207-HP -1 Well-known 1st Tier automotive component supplier to all major OEM's in South Africa, wants to appoint a Materials Planner, within the Purchasing Department at its facility in Port Elizabeth, EC. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, your role will be to ensure the continuous supply of materials required for the manufacturing process by managing and coordinating the flow of material from suppliers to production; and to minimise production delays, reduce cost and maintain inventory levels. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Matric essential. Must have Matric Mathematics (and Technical Drawings is highly desirable). Tertiary qualification; National Diploma or Degree in Purchasing or Logistics Management, CPIM or similar. High level of computer literacy (Excel and ERP systems). Minimum 5 years' experience in an operations environment; understanding forecast and MRP processes. Experience in the chemical industry and knowledge of related products or processes is an advantage. Experience in the automotive industry is an advantage. Capacity to utilise company's information systems; SAP experience is an advantage. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent numeracy skills. Good planning and prioritising skills. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Planning of and procurement of raw material and finished goods based on forecast and planned and safety stock requirements. Maintenance of supplier data and evaluations as required by quality management system. Maintain master data of products in SAP and OMP (phasing in and out of products to reduce obsolescence). Expediting of purchase orders with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery. Liaising with outsourced warehouse to ensure smooth processes for receipts and Stock management. Liaising with sales on customer requirements to manage any shortages and anomalies based on customer off take. Procure based on BBBEE levels and ensure that BBBEE certificates and ISO certificates are tracked for expiry and for validity. Liaise with Global purchasing for price movements and approval, alternatives etc. Negotiate reduction of prices and cost avoidance to limit or delay price increases. Related administration. Responsibilities are not limited to the above. Location: Port Elizabeth Profile: Supply Chain / Automotive Manufacturing Career Level: 5 years.
