Our client, producers of robust and durable valves is looking for a Design Engineer, who has knowledge of the South African legislation governing pressure vessels, piping, and pressure accessories. Primary Responsibilities Responsible for all Product Design activities. Responsible for all day-to-day engineering activities. Participate in design reviews and validations. Development of new and improved products. Supervise a draughtsman when required. Perform high level quality assurance tasks. Organise design activities such as design input, design output, design review, design verification and design validation. Use valve and engineering standards such as ISO, API, ASME and PED. Perform design calculations and stress analysis. Technical signatory for PED and PER. Initiate design requirements based on custom quotes or tenders. Maintain all technical documentation for quotes and tenders. Take charge of research and development projects when required. Keep all filing systems involving design and drawing documentation up to date. Keep latest editions of engineering standards for design projects. Perform quality assurance activities for quotes, tenders and new orders such as create QCP's, Determine NDE, special inspections and testing, and maintain required documentation. Perform other quality assurance activities for the company such as arrange supplier audits, review and advise on NCR's and inspect material certificates. Work with customers on technical issues or new products. Experience Experience in one or more of the fields of mining, water reticulation, oil and gas, piping infrastructure and manufacturing. 3 years' experience in a similar position. Registered Engineer with ECSA or eligible to be registered. Mechanical Detail Drawings. Proficient in Solid Edge or similar CAD software. Proficient in FEA and other verification and validation methods. ERP software's. Qualification BEng in Mechanical Engineering. Registered Engineer with ECSA or eligible to be registered.
