Mechanical Designer - Pretoria
This position is for a mechanical designer capable of using Solid works.
The candidate will be required to visit customers, take measurements on site, make concept designs as proposals to customers.
If the project realizes it will be expected from the candidate to complete the design to manufacturing level. Inspect work done in the workshop and attend to changes in the design.
Commissioning of a relevant project will be required and it is expected that the candidate will be actively involved in the process from start to finish. It is required that all documentation be kept up to date with calculations and selection criteria be assembled for every project.
All projects are a combination of mechanical and either electrical or pneumatics, hydraulics, or any combination of these. The candidate must have experience in at least two of these fields.

Requirements:
- B Eng Degree/Diploma Mechanical or B Tech Degree/Diploma in Mechatronics Engineering
- Mechanical design engineering experience (5 Years +)
- 3D CAD experience Solidworks (5 Years +)
- 5+ Years of experience in Automation industry
- Evaluate task scope of work
- Prepare and maintain bills of materials and their representative 3D assemblies
- Product data management
- Create 3D parts and 2D part drawings to meet supplier and customer requirements e.g
- pneumatic systems.
- Custom designed machinery and equipment ( Automotive, Food & beverage)
- motors, gearboxes, and servo systems specifications
- Conveyor systems. Eg, belt, chain, roller. In light applications
- Packaging and materials handling. ( Automotive, Food & beverage)
- Robots and custom pick and place systems. ( Automotive, Food & beverage)
- Liaise with overseas suppliers on designs and machines
- Conduct concept and design reviews
- Learning to operate CAD software packages. Solidworks
- Support the day-to-day activities of customer projects
- Provide creative and technically feasible solutions for cost savings, service issues, and product improvements.
- Interface with materials and purchasing on new part design and sourcing.
- Interface with Analysis, Test, and Manufacturing Engineering to determine the most effective and economical use of materials and manufacturing processes.

- Ability to work under pressure
- Good Written and Verbal Communication (English)
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Excel skills
- Proficient in Solidworks
- Proficient in problem solving
