The client is a multi-disciplinary engineering solution provider serving the air pollution, energy, metallurgical, manufacturing, chemical and infrastructure industries. The company is currently active with projects in South Africa, Europe, South America, Asia and the Middle East. The main objective of the Mechanical Engineer is to create high-quality and cost-effective engineering solutions.Job Description: Generate conceptual drawings. Review drawings produced by Draughtsmen to ensure design intention Analyse structures and perform Finite Element Analysis (static and dynamic). Determine structure loadings and perform structural steel design. Write technical reports. Perform three-dimensional modelling of concepts. Run fluid flow simulations using Computational Fluid Dynamics and Flownex. Perform vibration analysis. Prepare fabrication and construction cost estimates. Prepare scope of works documentation. Perform site work, including site measurements, verification of drawings to site installation, plant commissioning, problem investigation, inspections, site surveying, photography of relevant areas and site supervision. Have knowledge of relevant codes and specifications SANS 10160, SANS 10162, BS4076 & BS EN 1993-3-2-2006, BS EN 1991-4 & BS 1993-4-1, AWS D1.1 and BS EN 1993-1-9Software utilisation: Prokon - Software suite. CAESER II Pipe stress analysis. EFD Lab - Computational Fluid Dynamics software. Patran Nastran - Finite Element Analysis software. Flownex - Fluid network analysis software. Ironcad - 3D modeling and 2D drawing CAD software. Autocad - 2D drawing software. Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Recap, Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Navisworks.Skills Required: Analytical ability and expertise in understanding complex issues.
