A large consulting company with offices around the world is looking for Mechanical Engineers/Technologists specialising in Utilities/Wet Services/Fire Protection. This role can be based at any of their offices in South Africa, namely Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban. Positions are available at the following levels: Mid-level Senior Lead Minimum requirements: BEng/BSc/BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering. Professional registration with ECSA is advantageous. Minimum post graduate relevant, multi-disciplinary mechanical utilities/wet services/fire protection building services experience within a consulting engineering environment - Mid-level 5yrs / Senior 5 - 10yrs / Lead 10yrs. Revit experience required and Revizto capability advantageous. BIM360, Dynamo and Python experience are advantageous. Demonstrable experience in the mechanical utilities/wet services/fire protection engineering field with an in-depth knowledge. Experience with data centres / mission-critical / industrial facilities advantageous. Extensive knowledge of relevant local and international standards and codes. Your responsibilities will include: Work as a Mechanical Utilities/Wet Services/Fire Protection Engineer/Technologist providing drainage (sanitary, storm water as well as specialist effluent), fire (sprinklers and fire-fighting equipment infrastructure), potable/non-potable water reticulation (including hot water generation), medical gas and mechanical industrial utilities / process piping systems. Efficiently engineer and model design using technical and 3D/BIM modeling skills. Engineering the mechanical utilities/wet services/fire protection design in project teams as the Lead Engineer / under guidance of the Lead Engineer. Develop line diagrams of the mechanical utilities/wet services/fire protection installation and coordinate with other disciplines for the initial space reservations. Modelling the mechanical utilities/wet services/fire protection installation in 3D Revit/BIM based on the diagrams and coordinated space reservations. Implement your knowledge based on functionality, mountability, accessibility and maintainability into the model to ensure that the contractor can build it according to our model without revising it. Work within a multidisciplinary team across borders. In addition to participating in projects, contribute to the optimization of internal business processes and to safeguarding and sharing knowledge within the field including mentoring juniors as applicable.
