A global pharmaceutical company has a vacancy for a Medical Manager (MBChB). They are seeking a Medical Doctor to assist and support the Marketing Teams to build and enhance the image of the company’s products across all medical and pharmaceutical sectors in South Africa. Requirements Job Purpose: Assist and support the Marketing Teams to build and enhance the image of the company’s products across all medical and pharmaceutical sectors in South Africa. Ensure the scientific and data provided to the therapeutic information and other health care providers and other stakeholders is supporting the marketing information with integrity. Develop and implement affiliate medical strategy aligned with business and global medical affairs objectives. Provide medical and scientific support and guidance to marketing and business development on new and existing marketed products, clarifying any medical issues pertaining to patients care, any reimbursement issues to be addressed clinically. Provide specialized skills and expertise, working in collaboration with various stakeholders, supporting key business initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Medical Support: Implement Medical strategies in support of Company Healthcare therapeutic areas of interest within South Africa. Overlook and support medical information consultant in providing medical information on product-specific queries received from customers (internal and external). Promotional material review as per Marketing and Advertising Review Council (MARC) and compliance requirement. Provide sound medical and scientific advice on the ethical, technical and scientific data of the Company’s products to various stakeholders and Key Opinion Leaders. Leverage deep scientific expertise combined with strong insight of country therapeutic landscape, key customers to develop, in collaboration with Sales and Marketing, impactful projects that can positively re-enforce brand strategy and key messages. Provide both training and guidance on medical and product training for commercial staff. Support clinical trials (phase 4/post marketing surveillance or investigator-initiated studies) identification and planning including the review of the investigator proposals, feasibility assessments and review of local protocols; be involved in developing the protocols for the clinical studies; organize HCP’s who will enroll patients on these studies; work with Marketing and BU Head in formulating enrolment contract with participating clinicians; publication planning and implementation. Business Development & Stakeholder Engagements: Act as an essential contributor to the commercial team successful commercialization of PCH products, including KOL engagement and Ad Board facilitation, development and adaptation of professional material suitable to local market, marketing and sales training, other activities to support launches. Act as the single point of contact within the SSA for all medical activities, plus any issues or questions requiring medical input for marketed products. Collaborate across the broader medical community, Product science experts, Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, Medical Managers, Distributors in other countries and regions. Partner with colleagues in the New Product Development, Clinical Research and New Business Development, facilitating provision of expert medical and scientific input to product ideation and development Organize Advisory Board Meetings and Round Table Discussions as required. Create platform to allow ease of access of advice on matters involving disease area and treatment options as they arise. Manage medical initiated events, speakership agreements and honoraria Maintain a good scientific reputation within the pharmaceutical industry and ensure input and alignment with strategic associations. Engage with Control of Promotional material Review promotional material where applicable, ensuring scientific correctness and interpretation of scientific reference articles used as according to updated compliance process and the local code of marketing of South Africa Pharmacovigilance management Manage affiliate pharmacovigilance manager in managing adverse event reporting according to South Africa and SSA and global requirements and ensure in-depth knowledge of the pharmacovigilance standard of practice for all marketed products. Ensure medical information processes are aligned and supported Liaise with Principals on international PV and compliance within South Africa on key clinical data reporting. Ensure that AEs reported during medical information queries are aligned with PV reports Learning and Development Initiatives Liaise with specific brand managers on a regular basis to determine areas where medical/scientific support may be required. E.g. Conceptualizing and drafting promotional materials and provide medical guidance or necessary insights to assist with product training by working closely as required with the training manager. Work closely with the National Training Manager to provide medical information and upskilling to the sales teams in key therapeutic areas. (ARVs and IDs, Oncology, Primary Care and Specialty Care) Requirements: Degree in Medicine - MBChB (Medical Doctor) 3-5 years’ experience in clinical research, clinical practice or pharma Must be prepared to travel frequently within the Sub-Saharan African Region Skills Excellent and proven scientific and technical expertise Industry experience or knowledge, commercial appreciation Knowledge of relevant codes of practice for South Africa. Computer skills Code of Marketing practice is an advantage Competencies: Leadership- ability to build confidence and engage on various levels.
