Millwright - Gauteng

My client, a giant in the manufacturing industry has an excellent position available for a Top-Notch Millwright at their factory based in Vereeniging. Must have a recognized Millwright trade as well as being multi-skilled in Fitting and Basic Electrical (done through a recognized apprenticeship). Min 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment. This is a demanding role and we are looking for the best of the best.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan for all manufacturing activities.
  • Set priorities for all jobs to be manufactured.
  • Adhere to work in progress.
  • Ensure all set targets are achieved.
  • Alleviate bottlenecks and improve efficiency in the factory.
  • Utilize the workforce to optimal capacity.
  • Identify training needs in the workforce.
  • Assist in the design of products and identify cost-effective ways to improve the manufacturing processes
  • Interact with key staff in various departments e.g. OEM, engineering, operations & specialist sub-contractors who are role-players on the plant.
  • Able to work flexible hours to meet operational demands. Incl over time & standby as & when required.
  • Ability to install, maintain and repair a wide variety of equipment and machinery such as pumps, electric motors, fans, blowers, compressors, gearboxes, pipes, valves, actuators, electrical control gear, instrumentation systems, flow meters, level control instruments, wiring of panels, lay of cables etc.
  • Sets up and operates various types of rigging such as hoists, cables, chains, cranes, and pulleys to move, locate and/or relocate equipment.
  • Able to read and interpret drawings, schematics, P&IDs, OEM & O&M manuals to ascertain procedures & fault finding.
  • Define recommendations on whether to refurbish, repair or replace worn and defective parts or equipment.
  • Document all activities by populating job cards with accurate relevant data & building a record of maintenance activities.
  • Implement corrective actions learned.
  • Maintain minimum stock levels of critical spares & consumables.
  • Maintain plant assets e.g. tools, vehicles, plant.
  • Manage a small team of technical assistants thru effective delegation & inspections.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION:

  • Matric
  • At least 4 - 6 years post-qualification experience with a solid track record.
  • Relevant Production Management diploma/degree will be an advantage
  • Recognized Millwright Trade Certificate
  • Multi-skilled in Fitting and Basic Electrical (done through recognized apprenticeship)
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant work experience in industrial plants.
  • Valid drivers license & own transport required.
  • Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Pneumatics, and Utilities experience in a factory plant environment.
  • Basic understanding of SCADA & PLC system (Not programming required)
