The position reports to the Plant Manager. Your main responsibilities will be to ensure that the machinery is maintained and fully functional in continuous production facility that requires an understanding of quality of final product and of raw materials. Key Performance areas and role responsibilities (inclusive but not limited to): • In-depth understanding of all preventative and breakdown maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and instrumentation equipment. • In-depth understanding of fault-finding principles and Root Cause Analyses. • Providing urgent response to critical equipment breakdowns. • Ensure equipment breakdowns are prioritized to limit downtime. • Maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment in both pome (apple & pear) and blueberry packhouses and cold storage facilities. • Follow maintenance schedules and procedures for preventative maintenance of equipment. • Must work in full compliance with the approved safety regulations. • Provide technical expertise to the workshop, farm and packhouse teams. • Able to work flexible working hours incl. night shift, overtime and on public holidays when and if required. • Able to read and interpret drawings, schematics, OEM & O&M manuals to ascertain procedures & fault finding. • Document all activities by populating job cards with accurate relevant data & building a record of maintenance activities. Qualification and Experience (Minimum Requirements) • A recognized Millwright Trade Test Certificate • Minimum 2 years' post trade test working experience. • Minimum 2 years' FMCG experience (advantageous) • Mechanical experience in work in a pack house and/or cold stores environment (Highly advantageous) • Ammonia license (advantageous) • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English or Afrikaans. • Own transport (Valid driver's license) and accommodation. • Overall good health Key skills required: • Welding experience. (Tig & Arc) • Work autonomously but also co-operatively with other pack house technicians and handymen. • Computer literacy will be advantageous. • Ability to analyse, find faults, and problem solving. • Ability to effectively communicate with various role-players across different departments. • Relevant knowledge of OHS Act. • Ability to prioritize activities to meet operational demand & sustainable life cycles of equipment Apply Now
