As a Turner, you will be responsible for fabricating and assembling various mechanical components for equipment and products Fabricating components through machining to meet company and SANS/SABS standards. Troubleshooting elements of a machinery to resolve quality and production issues Repairing faulty pieces Fitting and turning parts with accuracy and precision Liaise with the Manager on preventative and planned machine maintenance.; Ensuring the maintenance of mechanical machine components; Ensure machine breakdowns are fixed to reduce machine down-time. Managing and controlling stock, consumables allocated as per the job or project on hand. Stock needs to be ordered 7 days in advance. Any discrepancies must be accounted for. Keep accurate records of all work done: job cards must be completed for each item worked on, including recording weights and sizes for quality control. Provide technical assistance & support to colleagues in all departments in the Company. Complying with all Housekeeping rules: Cleaning and ensuring your work station is neat and safe at all times. Comply with all Heath and Safety regulations of the Company and as set out in Law. Receive stock from suppliers immediately and to std: the correct goods and materials receive spec and in the right quantities Matric/ N3 Fitter and Turner Qualification ideally. A minimum of 4 - 5 years' turning, fitting, machining in a production environment post apprenticeship as a Fitter and Turner Experience in working on the lathe and milling, as well as lathe/mill maintenance advantageous Knowledge of electronics advantageous Able to accurately interpret technical drawings. Knowledge of pneumatic , hydraulic tools and equipment; engineering tools correctly and professionally : bandsaw, grinders, stick welder, drilling machines, mill, lathe to execute different duties/work in the manufacturing workshop. This includes reading micrometers and verniers Must be able to use lifting equipment for the safe transfer of heavy items Be analytical and able to evaluate information to solve problems. Good interpersonal and communication skills Must have sound planning skills. Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental Standards Knowledge / Skills and Abilities Good practical skills: ability to read drawings, make drawings and apply practical solutions. Close attention to detail, with accuracy and precision being critical. Take pride in work The ability to focus for long periods of time. A methodical approach to work, organised .
