As a Mine Closure Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and promoting environmentally sound practices within the mining industry. Your expertise will guide mine closure strategies, financial assessments, and risk management.Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science or a related field. Postgraduate degree in Environmental Management or a similar discipline (beneficial). Professional registration with organizations such as SACNASP (South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions) and EAPASA (Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa) is advantageous. Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Mine Closure Specialist, preferably within the Environmental Consulting Sector. Responsibilities: In this role, you will: Calculate mine closure costs and conduct Financial Provision Assessments to meet regulatory standards (including GN R 1147 and other relevant legislation). Identify and manage mine closure and rehabilitation risks. Develop rehabilitation strategies and procedures. Create comprehensive mine closure and rehabilitation plans.
