Matric / Grade 12 Certificate · Mine Overseer Certificate of Competency More than Five (5) years' experience as a Mine Overseer in a mining environment: · Manage and Maintain Health and Safety systems and ensure operational compliance in accordance with the MHSA as well as on Mine Standard Procedures and Code of Practices · Set priorities, manage and coordinate operational activities to ensure achievement of required production targets in Stoping and / or Development sections · Effective management of budgets related to material and stores · Manage and optimising allocated human capital and other resources As our Mine overseer some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to: Effectively control and manage the operational processes to achieve operational targets: · Plan production with shift supervisors and oversee monthly measurements · Monitor and authorise material orders · Monitor and follow up on break downs to reduce delays · Control the distribution of equipment · Monitor daily, weekly and monthly production measurements and results and initiate corrective action · Ensure safe achievement of production targets in line with MHSA and Eland's standards · Ensure that special and managerial instructions are implemented · Promote reclamation and the use of reclaimed equipment and material in section · Monitor overtime, stand-by and odd shifts Effectively control process standards and effectively manage section during crisis/breakdown: · Ensure that operating standards and procedures are up to date and implemented daily by the team · Ensure continuous compliance to legal requirements · Co-ordinate safety, hygiene and good house keeping in the section · Drive and control accident and incident investigation processes · Conduct risk assessments to eliminate, minimise and control risks · Inspect underground conditions, report substandard operations/ conditions and enforce corrective action · Coach and motivate employees to adhere to legal requirements · Liaise with technical services department for support requirements · Highlight performance deficiencies and introduce possible solutions · Determine requirements for continuous improvement within the operation Health, Safety & Environment: · Demonstrate behaviour in line with health, safety, and environmental standards and with the Northam s values · Participate in relevant safety audits, inspections and observations and address issues as part of demonstrating safety leadership · Maintain Health and Safety by ensuring compliance to standards and procedures · Collaborate with relevant departments to foster continuous improvement on health and safety initiatives People / Leadership: · Demonstrate behaviour in line with the Eland 's Culture themes, standards and a professional workplace · Provide leadership to and develop the performance of your team in line with Eland's policies and systems - Develop a clear and aligned work plan for direct reports - Foster a constructive and productive working environment - Drive delivery of objectives including holding team members to account for their work and performance manage where appropriate - Participate in training and development requirements of employees Financial: · Ensure that budget constraints are adhered to · Control working costs for area of responsibility · Submit a production forecast as and when required Apply Now
