Our client a leader in the Telecommunication industry is currently looking for a Network Architect (Core Fibre) to be based in Fourways. As part of the Engineering team, plan, design, select technologies & equipment, implement, and make required changes to the access and core fibre routes on the metro and backbone network within budget and timelines and to the correct level of quality and performance to enable client services, satisfaction and revenue to be maintained and to meet or improve company targets. Plan and design of new access, metro and core duct and fiber routes, spurs, and PoP sites entries, MMRs. Develop Policies, Procedures, Processes, Standards, Specifications and Work Instructions related to fibre engineering design, planning, maintenance, and operations. Liaise with internal Project Managers and 3rd party suppliers that ensure fibre networks are designed and deployed according to design. Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience) in a technical field. 8 years' technical experience in the telecom industry. 5 years in network fibre planning and design or equivalent role. Optical networking experience, including OTDR, optical link budget calculations, fibre types, and testing. Expert in GIS and OSS systems. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Visio. Basic knowledge of network equipment i.e., Routers, Switches, DWDM, OTN. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
