The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing and maintaining LAN and WAN infrastructure of our clients. He/She will assist in the planning, design and implementation of network solutions. It includes performing “root cause” analysis, interface with various vendors and make recommendations on global best practices. KEY TASKS; Bill of Materials ➢ Problem resolution and troubleshooting, 1st and 2nd line / level ➢ Provide 24 x 7 support or during your shift ➢ Provide support and technical advice ➢ Respond to enquiries / queries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel, ACSA system (SNOW and NNMi) to provide technical assistance and support ➢ Ensure networks are fully operational ➢ Manage the day to day operations of the networks ➢ Liaising with relevant 3rd parties and engineers towards the resolution of technical issues reported and or identified on ACSA systems ➢ Conduct user administration ➢ Conduct configuration on network devices ➢ Allocation of IP addresses ➢ Administration and troubleshooting of WIFI network using WCS ➢ Document and update documentation of the network infrastructure ➢ Monitor operational systems ➢ Monitor and troubleshoot all Cisco network technology LAN, WAN, WLAN, Voice, etc ➢ Monitor network performance ➢ Maintain network operations , applications and operating systems ➢ Process any follow up action ➢ Perform all call resolutions related to assigned areas ➢ Develop and maintain network support related documentation ➢ Ensure compliance with all operation polices and instructions ➢ Respond timeously to customer queries and to provide feedback ➢ Actively find ways to improve ways to improve customer service ➢ Work daily through Syslogs on Cisco LMS. Use Cisco LMS for Cisco device information ➢ Log all telephonic calls ➢ SNOW: Proper updates on SNOW to be done daily ➢ Opsbridge and NNMi: Monitor and conduct Incident Reporting ➢ Log calls where faulty network devices have been reported or identified to Sizwe for replacements and or to be RMA ➢ Check alerts / alarms frequently during the whole shift. ➢ Conduct first line support by attending physically the area where fault has been identified. (Area visit). ➢ Wire Centre Visits: (Make sure you have knowledge of the locations) ➢ Check if lights are working ➢ Check access control ➢ Check UPS status ➢ Check temperature / air conditioners status ➢ Check all switches are up and working ➢ Check fibre uplink status ➢ Check if all switches have asset tags ➢ To do troubleshooting by visiting wire centre or location where fault has been reported or identified ➢ Handover: ➢ Handover must be done properly providing handover report ➢ All open incidents to be reported of your shift and carried over to next shift ➢ All TRUNK Links that went down and back up again to be reported in detail and with full description ➢ Effective communication ensuring shift handover report ➢ Understand the Change Control Process ➢ The necessary escalations be done to Supervisors and Managers ➢ Should any one of the Sizwe Network Team make themselves guilty of any misconduct or inappropriate behaviour and performance, ACSA may then request that they be replaced immediately after both parties agreed to such action. Develop and document accurate bill of quantities utilizing in house skills and preferred sub-contractors. Schoo l : Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification. Professional / Tertiary: Minimum Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification or equivalent certification MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: ➢ Valid Cisco CCNA and CCNP Certificates – start specializing in routing and switching; Voice, Wireless or Data Centre ➢ 5 Years experience in Cisco / HP products ➢ 3 Years on other core technologies (Microsoft, Linux, Nortel, Avaya) ➢ Routing and switching experience ➢ Strong QoS ➢ Developing stage in obtaining VOIP Skills ➢ Working on fairly large infrastructure ➢ Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), involved in the design, implementation and maintenance of various network related arenas ➢ Formal International Cisco CCNP certification to be updated on a regular basis ➢ Knowledge and understanding of the corporate identity of the organisation and the governance mechanisms utilised to govern the corporate identity ➢ Knowledge and understanding of the company policies and procedures applicable to the specific work environment to ensure that work outcomes are compliant to the policies and procedures ➢ The ability to analyse situations and to arrive at the best possible solution ➢ The ability to communicate effectively and efficiently at all levels in the organisation ➢ The ability to apply the principles of sound business English in verbal and written communication ➢ The ability to pay attention to a speaker, interpret the information and take it into account when taking action or to act on it in a sensible manner ➢ The ability to accurately give an account of information pertaining to the performance of outputs ➢ The ability to interact with people at all levels in the organization ➢ The inclination to act analytical by applying analytical skills ➢ The ability to pay attention to detail in such a way that outcomes are accurately executed ➢ To act professional in all situations ➢ The awareness of the customer needs and expectations and the fulfillment of the customer needs and requirements ➢ The ability to act within the code of conduct and maintain a professional image at all times ➢ May be required to work overtime ➢ All tasks and responsibilities as specified by the company procedures and policies references, including references to all staff and generic terms such as executive management. ➢ Own Car Market Related Salary based on Experience & Qualifications
