QUALIFICATIONS:
- Wireman’s license SANS 10142
- PDP
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- MS Office Suite
- Ability to produce a written report
- Ethernet Communications network exposure
- Diverse skill set with exposure to other trade disciplines
- Self-starter
- Able to operate difference electrical tools and test equipment
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 1- 2 years solar installation or maintenance experience
- Plant or factory maintenance environment would be an advantage
- 400VAC distribution systems
- Control systems experience would be an advantage
- Panel wiring
- Cable termination systems
- Retro-fitting large frame MCCB’s in existing distribution panels
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations and Maintenance
- Be responsible for completion of scheduled maintenance as per job card issued
- Plan and prepare work site, equipment, tools, consumables and materials for electrical maintenance activities and operations
- Uphold and champion corporate culture and values within team structures
- Take offline and recommission control systems and installations where repairs have been necessary.
- Effective and efficient communication with the O&M manager regarding field issues and delays
- Vehicle checks to be done on a weekly basis on a Friday by COB
- Timesheets to be submitted on a weekly basis on a Friday by COB
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in good working order
- Ensure tools and equipment are safely stored and secure when not in use
- Ensure adherence to vehicle policy at all times
- Inspect and Test PV Plant Equipment when required to do so
This includes the use of:
- Digital Multimeter
- Clamp meter
- Insulation resistance tester
- FLIR camera
- PV Check Meter
- Analyzing test results with the O&M manager for irregularities and assist in the planning of the rectification
- Assisting with developing and maintaining the maintenance plan. This involves assisting with creating a standard maintenance procedure and logbook for each piece of solar associated equipment or
- Replace cabling or wiring when required to do
- Travel on an ad-hoc basis and live out of town from time to time
- Work overtime from time to time in order to execute the works
- Any other electrical duties, as may be required by the employer from time to time
- Prepare and complete pre-work and post work technical checklists and reports
- Prepare and complete pre-work and post work health and safety checks and reports
- Maintain a quality standard to relevant SANS code specifications as well as best practice principles and TFS general technical
- Lead and guide a team of semi-skilled workers in order to execute the works.
AC Tie-In
- Working with large low voltage electrical networks and large frame MCCBs
- Dressing, glanding and terminating SWA cables up to 120mm² 4core
- Retro-fitting large frame MCCBs in existing distribution panels
- Working shutdowns and tie-in flexi cable tails
- Plan and prepare work site, equipment, tools, consumables and materials for electrical activities and operations
- Install, wire and connect electrical equipment and control systems
- Test and inspect electrical equipment, control systems and installations
- Commission control systems and installations
