Cheetah Chrome South Africa (Pty) Ltd is looking for Safety Officer to facilitate the formal Safety function as part of the SHEQ-Management System as it is introduced for the Opencast Mining and required by the Mines Health and safety Act and other Legislative requirements for effective functioning of the organization, to provide a Safe and Healthy Work Environment. Know the requirements of the various Acts and what regulations applies to the operation. Conduct Safety Inspections in area of responsibility and compile safety inspection reports. Motivate and recommend propose required actions to eliminate identified risks and/or to improve the safety on site. Introduce documentation and communication changes. Implement the specified activities to Safety and SHEQ- Operational. Investigate all accidents or occurrences as per the Mine Health and Safety Act and those directed to him /her by the Chief Safety Officer. Facilitate the compilation of Issue Based Risk Assessments in own area of responsibility ensuring that all relevant hazards are identified. Facilitate the investigation of Internal Section 54/55 in area of responsibility. Assist with the management of Contractors in area of responsibility ensuring that contractors comply with legal requirements as well as site specific requirements. In conjunction with the CSO implement and maintain a quality management system in compliance with quality management standards. Grade 12. SAMTRAC OR COMSOC 1 & 2. Office Administration at NQF Level 4. Valid driver's licence and own transport. At least 5 years' extensive experience in Opencast Mining. At least 3 years' extensive experience as an Opencast Mining Safety officer. At least 3 years' experience in MS Office. Must have vast knowledge of the following legislation: Mine Health & Safety Act, Minerals Act, DMR'S Regulations and Directions, Inspector of Mines Notices and Rules and Regulations, Knowledge and experience of SHEQ Functions, Programs and Procedures. Must have knowledge and experience of SHEQ Management System Guidelines and Directions. Market related
