One of our clients in the Freight Forwarding industry has a vacancy available for an Operations Manager to join their dynamic team. As the Operations Manager you are personally responsible for managing the Operations Team in Johannesburg. The teams consists of: Operational staff, Invoicing staff, and Customs clearance staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for day-to-day Operational, Forwarding and Customs clearing management of Johannesburg and all responsibilities associated with the position.
Key tasks and performance criteria (subject to change):
- Ensure the smooth running and co-ordination of the operational team in Johannesburg namely (Forwarding/Clearing/Import/Export/Air/Sea/Road)
- Maintain and develop operational process/guidelines, improving and evolving to enable growth.
- Monitor and optimize the utilization and performance of resources.
- Develop and maintain best practices with quality controls.
- Support internal role players such as Sales/Servicing/Management/Finance
- Creating an environment of innovation to gain through motivation, training, supporting and team building.
- Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- All activities performed in line with the company procedures and policies and corporate governance.
- Weekly monthly reporting and attending management meetings.
- Maintaining relations with various roles players (Government dept./Carrier representatives/ Transporters/Depots or handling agents/ SAAFF etc.)
- Risk Management/ Crisis Management/ Project Management
- Maximize customer satisfaction through co-operation and quality service.
- Must be available and able to assist outside normal office hours.
- Support team members if absent or whenever required.
- Involvement in procuring and acquiring new suppliers when required with approval.
- Assist in growing and developing the business.
- Any other reasonable/lawful instruction that may be issued by management.

Requirements:
- Conversational English language skills essential.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes including but not limited to Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Good documentation skills.
- Organization skills.
- Incoterms.
- Strong Managerial Skills.
