Operations System Administrator - Johannesburg
Administer and manage processes as part of a systems administration team and be responsible for selected processed in the data-center;
2) System administration skills required will create a balanced team combination with cross-functional skills and experience to be able to support the following systems and components in the data center:
a) SCCM;
b) SCOM;
c) VMWare;
d) Active Directory and DNS;
e) Back-ups and archiving;
f) Veritas;
g) Storage including a storage area network (SAN);
h) Symantec antivirus;
i) Patch management (Ivanti); and
j) Server management (Microsoft Windows)
3) Server hardware and software support;
4) Provide support to provincial and municipal offices;
5) Manages and monitors anti-virus products across organisation;
6) Manages and monitors patch management across organisation;
7) Resolves third level support problems;
8) Maintains 99.999% uptime of data-centre operations;
9) Server maintenance and monitoring including knowledge of SCOM;
10) Monitors and maintains the load balanced internet information servers (IIS);
11) Is responsible for the overall infrastructure architecture, including compliance with the companys enterprise information architecture;
12) Knowledge of security Firewalls;
13) Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway (Forefront TMG), formerly known as Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA Server);
14) Knowledge and experience in virtualization technologies, with special focus on VMware;
15) Coordinate and support team members of systems administrators;
16) Reviews change requests for completeness and analyses, prioritises, categorises, approves, and schedules change requests;
17) Monitors the successful completion of all change requests, including change planning, building, testing, and implementation to ensure that these processes follow the change schedule;
18) Reviews and evaluates the change process;
19. Manages and monitors data storage using storage area network (SAN) technologies;
20) Knowledge of Microsoft Clustering services
21) Manages the VMWare environment;
22) Schedule and perform maintenance of systems;
23) Provisioning of datacenter infrastructure;
24) Evaluates new technologies and prepares documentation.
Skills Requirements
Deep skills and experience in Microsoft Operating Systems and
Applications with the following certifications:
ï MCSE, MCSD, MCSA, etc.;
ï MCITP Enterprise Administrator (Microsoft Certified IT Professional)on Windows Server;
ï VMWare Certified Professional 6 Data Center Virtualization
(VCP6-DCV)
ï MCDBA will be an advantage
