The Roll Operator will play a key role in our manufacturing process, operating rolling machines and equipment to shape and form steel materials according to specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the production of high-quality engineered products within a dynamic manufacturing environment. Operate rolling machines and equipment to perform forming operations on various grades and thicknesses of Steel. Set up and adjust machine settings, including pressure, speed, and alignment, to achieve desired dimensions and specifications for the finished product. Including, but not limited to: Sourcing material from Stock Yard. Using appropriate measuring tools to mark out centres, diagonals and angles. Creating layouts for forming, square to round, lobster bends, etc. Ensure correct use of Overhead Crane when performing Rolling Operations. Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure optimal performance and identify any issues or malfunctions that may affect production or Safety. Troubleshoot equipment problems and assist Maintenance to perform minor repairs or adjustments as needed to minimize downtime and maintain productivity, including changing out of Rolls. Follow safety protocols and guidelines at all times to prevent accidents, injuries, and damage to equipment or materials. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize manufacturing processes, improve efficiency, and meet production targets. Assist with Boilermaking and any other duties as assigned Production management to support the overall operation of the manufacturing facility. Grade 12. Additional technical training or certification in machining or manufacturing processes preferred. Proven experience as a roll operator or similar role in a manufacturing or engineering environment. Proficiency in operating rolling machines and equipment, with a strong understanding of rolling processes and techniques. The incumbent should possess/ display the following key skills or attributes: Attention to detail. Able to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues independently. Excellent attention to detail and quality standards, with a commitment to producing accurate and consistent results. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed to meet production deadlines. Overhead Crane operational proficiency. Knowledge of steel grades, and behaviour of steel when forming. Market related Apply Now
