Packer (Steel) - South Africa
Job Tile: Packer (Steel) Location: Germiston, Gauteng Salary: Market-Related Duties: Prepare finished steel products for shipment by wrapping, boxing, and palletizing according to customer requirements and shipping specifications. Inspect finished products for quality and completeness before packaging, identifying any defects or discrepancies and taking corrective action as needed. Ensure accurate labeling and documentation of packaged products, including part numbers, quantities, and shipping labels. Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes to move and transport packaged products safely and efficiently. Coordinate with shipping and logistics personnel to prioritize orders, schedule shipments, and ensure on-time delivery to customers. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the packing area, including disposing of packaging materials and maintaining proper storage of packing supplies. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others. Requirements: Previous experience working in a steel fabrication or manufacturing environment preferred. Familiarity with steel products, materials handling, and packaging techniques. Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, packing lists, and customer orders. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards. Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate professionally with coworkers and supervisors. Experience operating material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks is a plus. Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed to meet production and shipping deadlines. High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in materials handling or logistics is desirable.
