Our leading client in the Supply Chain Sector is seeking a Payroll Accountant who will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees while adhering to all relevant laws and regulations. Responsibilities will include but, not be limited to: Payroll Processing: Manage end-to-end payroll processes, including calculating wages, overtime, bonuses, and other compensation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Data Management: Maintain employee records, including personal information, tax details, banking information, and salary adjustments, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. Compliance: Stay updated with South African labor laws, tax regulations, and statutory requirements related to payroll processing to ensure compliance and avoid legal issues. Taxation: Calculate and deduct appropriate taxes, such as PAYE and UIF, and prepare and submit tax reports to relevant authorities. Benefits Administration: Administer employee benefits like medical aid and pension, ensuring accurate deductions and payments. Reporting: Generate payroll reports for management review, providing insights into expenses, trends, and variances, and prepare ad-hoc reports as required. Communication: Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll matters and effectively communicate changes and obligations. Audits and Reviews: Participate in audits of payroll records, conduct periodic reviews to identify discrepancies, and rectify errors. Systems and Technology: Utilize payroll software and systems to streamline processes, collaborate with IT or HR teams to resolve technical issues and ensure data security. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance payroll processes, recommend and implement enhancements or automation. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Proven experience in payroll processing and administration. In-depth knowledge of South African payroll legislation and tax laws. Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office, particularly Excel. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Effective communication skills. Ability to handle confidential information. Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities. Certification in Payroll Administration (advantageous). Experience with SAP Payroll and SAP HCM (preferred). Tolerance of stress and pressure. Deadline-driven with the ability to prioritize tasks. Organizational awareness and adaptability to shifting priorities. Key Decision Responsibilities: Coordinating technology projects across business functions. Making operational and technical decisions within responsibility. Solving integration and project management problems. Identifying and implementing innovations to improve project success and efficiency.
