An exciting new opprtunity for a Piping Engineer has been presented by our client, a leading supplier of petroleum products in Southern Africa that operates the country's third-largest crude oil refinery, to become a part of an exciting project in the oil and gas insudstry transforming the way in which fuel impacts our environment based on new laws passed down by Government. Lead Piping and Piping Mechanical Engineering activities for Client on Clean Fuels Project Odyssey, providing technical expertise for the design of new infrastructure and modifications to existing infrastructure. Understand and conversant with South African legislative requirements for piping and piping mechanical engineering. (SANS). Oversee, monitor, and liaise with EPC contractors to ensure Project success at every stage. Coordinate and participate in review of EPC engineering documents/deliverables to ensure compliance with the contractual requirements, including project procedures, project specifications and applicable codes and standards. Provide piping engineering expertise providing input to piping and layout studies. Define piping requirements for technical scopes. Review and assess piping and piping stress calculations, Ceasar calcs etc. Review calculations and documentation to enable development of deliverables used in work packs and for supply chain. Provide support to the Engineering manager and the project delivery team. Resolve piping related engineering issues, queries, and clarifications by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards. Assure technical integrity of piping designs. Provide support for inter-discipline considerations through attendance at required design reviews and undertaking inter discipline checking HAZOP/HAZID, Model reviews, studies, value engineering etc. Utilise software tools in design development and checking (e.g. Navisworks, E3D) Coordinates with other SMEs, Ops and maintenance to ensure that multi-discipline interfaces are addressed with resolution of technical issues and conflicting design requirements and returned to EPC in agreed time frame. Communicates any complex technical issues and recommend solutions to project management. Carry out or co-ordinate mechanical checks of piping for early works and Tie-ins as required. Liaise with plant inspector & review inspection findings and carry out integrity checks accordingly. Alternatively determine repair/replacement solutions where required. If requested visit the fabrication shop and carry out quality audits Knowledgeable with piping pre-fabrication, installation, testing and reinstatement. Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports, and follow required checking procedures. Ensure changes are captured and comply with project change management system. Responsible for performing field activities monitoring day-to-day work of contractors/sub-contractors, reporting all potential safety and quality issues, assisting with cost, progress, and materials reporting. Provide feedback on lessons learnt to aide in continuous improvement Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Preferred: Advanced degree. Preferred: South Africa Professional Engineer registration. Experience: 15 years of experience in process engineering roles, preferably within the oil and gas industry and in particular refining and storage. Proficient experience across all engineering life cycle phase covering FEED, Detailed Design, EPC Contractor Management, Construction, Operations and Maintenance.
