LIC PLANNING TEAM LEAD LOGISTICS INTEGRATION CENTRE SUPPLY CHAIN AND LOGISTICS MONTAGUE GARDENS, CAPE TOWN Main Purpose Generating cost effectivetransport plans for products and equipment through daily debriefing withtransporters and the LIC team to support the business in running its transportplanning function, meeting the KPI's and SLA's. Key Responsibilities - Plan transport activities cost effectively on a daily basis to meet agreed KPI's and SLA's - Work together with the operations team and planning specialists to be responsive to daily operational variables which may influence future route scheduling - Update and interpret hard and soft constraints on delivery sites and fleet - Decision making on what to complete with dedicated vs ad-hoc capacity - Produce accurate and cost effective plans based on database parameters and certain manual intervention for dedicated fleet - Secure capacities for ad-hoc demand which includes service provider, vehicle type and loading ETA - Build relationship with transport service providers and their operational staff who book vehicles - On-time and accurate publishing of route schedules per delivery type - Measure and publish planning KPI's and management reporting - Analysis and reporting on assigned short term projects - Continuous improvement of planning function and reporting - Continuous monitoring of actual vs. planned performance through all functions in order to quickly respond to variations in the system that requires changes to the tactical plan - Crisis management and providing formal feedback on changes to plan and execution - Effective communication of plans and performance against plan - Continuous improvement of Transport plans, taking changing operational dynamics into account - Assist with managing the end to end customer service process in line with Best Operating practice - Operational flexibility - rotational weekend coverage - Assist with general office work i.e. Planning requisition management, KPI update, invocom updates, OEC Files updates - Operational flexibility - rotational weekend coverage - Assist with general office work i.e. Planning requisition management, KPI update, invocom updates, OEC Files updates - Work together with the operations team and LIC team to be responsive to daily operational variables which may influence future route scheduling - Assist the Planning specialists and LIC Helpdesk administrators with the completion of their day-today tasks - Play an active role and lead in new system implementation phases - Fully exploit the capabilities of a Transport system to help the Supply Chain function to reduce the cost of transport by 2% - Ability to work with and interpret large amounts of data to inform business optimisation decisions Key Competencies - Passion for the brand and customers - Personal effectiveness - Thinking strategically and commercially - Delivering high performance - Connecting people - Planning & organizing - Driving quality - Making insightful business decisions - Having an innovative merchant mind-set - Dealing with a high degree of complexity - Ability to use technology effectively to improve Operations - Proven Team Leadership ability OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS What theoretical knowledge (e.g. degree / diploma) does the job require? - B Degree or Diploma in Logistics - A minimum of three years' experience in a Planning or Supply Chain COE environment - Strong Excel skillset - Experience in using Planning tools (Transport Management Systems) - FMCG and retail experience will be advantageous - Strong numerical aptitude - Logical and analytical thinker, able to translate ideas into practical business solutions - Ability to balance Optimal Service, whilst optimizing Variable Logistics Costs (VLC) - Deep understanding of Transport and its different costs elements - Deep understanding of total operational costs and cost drivers (what are the key cost drivers to improve the operation) - Good attention to detail - Good self-management and interpersonal skills - Able to work independently - Able to work under pressure - Strong crisis management and conflict resolution skillset "As a proud South African brand, Woolworths is committed to transformation.
