You are a seasoned professional with over a decade of experience in the energy sector, particularly in renewable wind energy . Thanks to the many years of commitment to your profession, you possess extensive knowledge of O&M best practices and have keen electrical infrastructure understanding. You are a strong leader with excellent communication skills, capable of managing large diverse teams thanks to your in-depth experience around HSE, maintenance, reliability and regulatory functions to name a few. This opportunity calls to the professional waiting to take that next big step in their career What you'll be doing (and why you'll enjoy it) As the Plant Manager, you will oversee the Balance of Plant (BOP) Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team for three major wind projects in the Northern Cape. Your role will involve ensuring the health and safety of all personnel and equipment, managing site access and security, and maximising plant availability. You will develop and implement long-term strategies for plant health, compile O&M annual plans, and ensure compliance with all project agreements and environmental standards. You will also manage the O&M budget, oversee subcontractors, and ensure the effective operation of the facility. Your leadership will be crucial in creating a high-performance team environment, fostering good relationships with landowners, and maintaining high standards of operational excellence. Where you'll be doing it Our client, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, has been a key contributor to the growth of renewable energy in Sub-Saharan Africa since 2011. With a strong focus on sustainability and innovation, the company operates multiple wind farms and is expanding its portfolio with several new projects. The IPP values teamwork, safety, and environmental responsibility, offering a dynamic and supportive work environment. The three 140MW wind projects you will be managing are located between Noupoort (NC) and Middleburg (EC) and each project is a separate SPV with its own substation and grid connection. The role does require you to relocate near the site to be close to the project and your team with the most suitable accommodation in Middleburg. What you'll need You hold a minimum National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in a related field, with a preference for a Degree in Electrical Engineering. At least 10 years of experience in the energy sector, with a focus on renewables and storage, is essential. You should have extensive knowledge of O&M best practices, electrical infrastructure (overhead lines), and substation management. Strong commercial judgment, problem-solving skills, and proficiency in Microsoft 365 are also required. Additionally, you should be willing to travel regularly in rural areas and hold a valid driver's license.
