Reference: DUR002928-SN-1Our client, a proudly South African manufacturing company, currently seeks a qualified Engineer, who will be responsible for: Research, development, and design of products and engineering projects. Manage a team of Engineers to ensure the products or project developments are completed successfully on time, with expected quality, within budget and to customer specifications. Minimum Job Requirements: Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Min 5 years’ experience in product development or similar senior role. Must come from an Automotive background (non-neg) Familiar with quality systems like ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 a strong advantage. Competencies: Be able to work effectively in a team environment and individually. Time management to deliver projects on-time. Strong interpersonal and people management skills. Key Performance Areas:Report to the Technical Manager Management: Oversee the design and development of products and processes. Ensure products and associated jigs and fixtures are developed. Set, analyse and report on development targets in the form of development time and budget. Ensure compliance to all legal and statutory requirements. Manage projects and resources within the team. Work efficiently to meet strategic goals and satisfy customer requirements. Manage the performance and output of team members. Product Development: Create conceptual designs and presentations. Design and develop new products using 3D and 2D CAE. Ensure the product development SOP and all related documentation are being followed and completed correctly. Ensure that required testing is completed correctly, analysing the results and advising on any engineering counter-measure if required. Continuous Improvement: Develop and execute Continuous Improvement Programs (CIP) with a cost down mind-set with quality and customer as a focus. Research and analyse different materials, manufacturing processes, development processes, design tolerances and other factors in the developmental and manufacturing process. Customer: Maintain existing and develop new customer relationships during the development process and beyond. Interact with external and internal customers. Finance: Manage the Capex application and implement any specific tooling required for a product or process. Protect company assets (working capital & fixed assets). Promote good Corporate Governance. SHEQ: Comply with the requirements of the Quality Management Systems. Adhere to and enforce compliance to company SHEQ policy. Be mindful of SHEQ issues in the development and hand over process and that these are designed out of the products manufacture, fitment and operation. Identify potential hazards and critical safety issues in the workplace. R640 000.00 per annum (cost to company) - negotiable
