Procurement Officer - Cape Town City Centre

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Employee will work as a Procurement Officer and scope of work will include, but are not limited to:
  • Requesting quotations and ordering materials from approved suppliers to meet the companys demand
  • Maintaining acceptable levels of materials and accurate documentation on the ERP
  • Timely creation and submission of Purchase Orders for approval via the ERP
  • Completing external provider evaluations to ensure compliance with AS9100
  • Conducting incoming inspections once material has arrived
  • Capturing purchased stock and materials on the ERP
  • Addressing supplier queries promptly and efficiently
  • Communicating progress from vendors and suppliers to team members and managers
  • Maintaining and updating supplier information such as qualifications, delivery times product ranges, etc.
  • Complying with current company procurement procedures and policies
  • Performing minor support roles within the company as required

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain/Purchasing; or equivalent; or suitable experience in excess of 10 years

Required Skills and Experience:
  • 2-5 years of relevant industry experience
  • Excellent English communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel etc).
  • Excellent administrative & organisational skills
  • Excellent planning & coordinating skills
  • Strong communication and negotiations skills. Good analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • A good understanding of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and potential issues
  • Pro-active approach to own and manage technical query processes between supplier and engineers

Recommended Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in procurement of electronic components
  • Experience in coordinating international shipping from suppliers
  • Familiar with ERP systems

General Skills:
  • Ability to learn fast and absorb new information quickly
  • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate on large projects
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • High standard of communication skills in English (both verbal and written)
